Program of tour

1
The tour starts in Perm. On road to Chusovoy. Excursion to the Kazan Convent and Triphon monastery on the bank of the ancient Chusovaya river. Lunch in the monastery canteen. Arrival Chusovoy, excursion open-air Chusovaya River Historical museum (unique museum, built by one man only). Main themes are Ermak (the conquerer of Siberia, who was from the region) and village life of people from the Chusovaya area in the 18th century. Transfer to tour base. Excursion to the monument of nature – Stone town. Dinner. Overnight stay at tour base.

Breakfast. Departure to historical Solikamsk, the "salt cellar" of Russia and former Ural capital. The road leads through beautiful landscape, past the towns of Kizel, Us'va and Alexandrovsk. Excursion in a modern salt mine of Russia's main salt exporters "Silvinit"! In full miner's outfit, an expert mine engineer will show the mine shafts and the place where the actual salt mining is done. Lunch at the engineer canteen of the mine complex. Excursion Solikamsk Regional Museum in the historical center (Voyevoda's house, a climb in Cathedral bell-tower and museums of local lore and history, situated in the ancient buildings of the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Epiphany church). On to Cherdyn, an ancient town on the banks of the large Kolva River. Cherdyn was the very first settlement in Prikamye, the Perm province. Overnight stay at tour base.

Breakfast. Trip to village Nyrob (place of confinement of Mikhail Nikitich Romanov - uncle of Russia's first Tsar and brother-in-law of Ivan the Terrible - in 1601). Sightseeing in the taiga nearby the historical village of Iskor. Beautiful views from "Narrow Street" and "Broad Street" rocks. Lunch in Cherdyn. Sightseeing in Cherdyn and visits to the Regional Museum, the Religious History Museum and the Kolva river bank. Transfer to another northern town of the region – Krasnovishersk. Visit Rock Vetlan for impressive view over the Vishera river Ural mountains. Overnight stay at tour base.

Breakfast. Transfer to the former capital of the Russian salt-making – town of Usolye. Visit to the private residence of the Golitsyns  and the Stroganovs, famous Russian industrialists. Lunch. Back to Perm, cultural heart of the Urals, famous for its opera and ballet (Chaikovsky, Diaghilev) theatre and its mighty Kama River (4th largest in Europe). City excursion. End of the tour.
