Cultural tours in Ural-land...
The Urals offer more than just nature. The first signs of civilisation in the
Urals goes back to the Bronze Age, when local inhabitants left their cave drawings
in the northern part of the province. Many years later, the Urals became home
to a number of ancient folks: Bashkirs, Udmurts, Tatars and especially Komi.
Although in less proportions, their languages are still spoken and cultural
features are still seen today. The first Russians came with the Stroganovs and
Demidovs, who were sent to the Urals by the Czar in the 17th century, with a
mission to develop its industries. From the Urals, The Stroganovs then appointed
an army to Ermak to conquer Siberia, what was unknown territory to the Russians
by that time. Furthermore the first as well as the last members of the imperial
Romanov family (Czars for more than 300 years) who died in Prikamye.
